Coming Home to the Body: A ½ Day Immersion on Somatic Experiencing® for Altered States, Trauma & Spiritual Integration
Some of our most profound experiences can leave us feeling deeply connected to other realms and strangely distant from our own bodies. Near-death experiences, psychedelic journeys, anaesthesia during surgery, vivid dream states and kundalini awakenings can leave the body feeling as though one foot remains in the expansive realms while the other stands in contraction here on earth, moving between altered highs and bodily sensations of discomfort or even terror.
Without integration, these experiences can leave us dysregulated, ungrounded, or continuously reaching for the transcendent states we once touched, quietly distancing us from what still lives unmet in our nervous system.
This four-hour workshop offers a grounded, somatic approach to understanding and beginning to work with altered and non-ordinary states, so that you can feel alive and free from within your own body. Through the lens of Somatic Experiencing, energy therapy and spiritual practice, we will explore trauma as a gateway to embodying these vast experiences.
The ½ day includes:
✓ Understanding how altered states, from near-death experiences to spiritual openings, can become stuck in your nervous system and body
✓ Learning the difference between somatic trauma integration and subconsciously bypassing what once overwhelmed you
✓ Practicing somatic tracking to build capacity to feel intense experience without fleeing, numbing or overriding it
✓ Regulating your nervous system and widening your window of tolerance around non-ordinary states
✓ Working with voluntary dream and spiritual states through the body
✓ Discovering trauma as a doorway to embodied connection with the sacred
Following a near-death experience and direct encounter with the light, Jaya spent decades with one foot on the other side, reaching again and again for the transcendent states through spiritual practices and places. She wished someone had shown her then how to land both feet in this world and that the body itself is where vast experiences can be embodied. This afternoon offers the practitioner, yogi, seeker, the curious, or anyone carrying an unintegrated altered-state experience a starting point to land back into your body. Drawing on Somatic Experiencing®, Dr. Peter Levine's advanced Eye of the Needle work on near-death and altered states, and 18+ years of energy therapy and spiritual practice, you'll leave with somatic tools to stay grounded and connected while honouring and remaining open to the expanse. No previous somatic training or particular beliefs required.

Living Trauma-Informed: A One-Day Somatic Immersion from Survival to Regulation
Understand the stress physiology and related stuck patterns that don't work for you, through the lens of somatic trauma integration. Learn how trauma lives in your nervous system, breath, and muscles, due to unintegrated, thwarted fight, flight, fawn and freeze responses. Understand how you may get stuck "on" (hyperarousal, overriding) or "off" (hypoarousal, numbing and collapsing), both recognizable through physical and mental/emotional symptoms: restricted breath, muscle tension or numbness, poor sleep and digestion, endocrine and mood disorders, and emotional dysregulation.
This one-day immersion will support you to understand how your nervous system works, and give you practical somatic tools to begin to unwind what your body continues to hold onto.
The day includes:
✓ Reconnecting with your body's natural circadian rhythms, including the breathing rhythm to uncover where you hold tension, and begin to release it
✓ Learning what wild animals know about shaking off stress, and strengthening your gut sense (interoceptive wisdom) to reconnect your brain with what's happening inside you
✓ Exploring how early attachment and intergenerational trauma passed down through your family line can still live in your nervous system today and move towards reconciliation
✓ Understanding what trauma is, how fight, flight, freeze, and fawn influence our daily life and how to integrate them
✓ Moving fear, anger, grief/sadness, shame and anxiety through the body instead of continuously thinking about them, including how stuck emotion can become physical tension and pain
✓ Discovering trauma as a doorway to embodied spiritual connection, instead of rising above it, unknowingly, through spiritual bypassing
A younger version of Jaya, as a yoga teacher and practitioner, wished she'd had these nervous system maps and somatic practices to integrate the residual traumatic energy that yoga couldn't reach. This day offers you, the yogi, meditator, therapist, etc. the missing piece: the science of your own nervous system, alongside somatic tools you can use right away for self-regulation. Drawing on Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and the attachment work of Dr. Gabor Maté, you'll leave with a nervous system and body reset, including practical ways to discharge survival energy so you can enjoy more calm and aliveness. No trauma background or previous somatic knowledge necessary to attend.

The Aliveness Beneath Our Patterns of Overwhelm: A Two-Day Somatic Immersion
Every subconscious override, way of numbing or moving away from what we’re feeling was developed to protect us from overwhelm. Whether we over-intellectualize, try to do things perfectly, people-please or go to spiritual practice to rise above things, they all stop us from meeting what lies underneath, which includes the vital, creative energy pushed down alongside all that we haven’t felt. We may understand what traumatic events happened in our past that overwhelmed us then, yet still don't know how to integrate related sensations, emotions, and body memories that stop us from living more fully. Instead we end up with trauma-related physical symptoms: chronic exhaustion or pain, difficulty digesting or sleeping, migraines, anxiety, depression, and beyond leading to overall life dissatisfaction.
We will explore how awareness of our patterns, somatic tracking, nervous system regulation, interoceptive wisdom, fierce compassion, ancestral practices and connecting with nature, can support us to reconnect with what our body has been holding so that it can begin to integrate, feel more aliveness, and support healthy relationships.
Over these two days, you'll slow down enough to feel what lies underneath overriding and disconnecting, and begin to meet what remains: your own embodied self.
Day 1: Awareness & Authenticity
✓ Recognize your underlying patterns: intellectual, perfection, people-pleasing, spiritual, etc.
✓ Somatic Experiencing fundamentals: track sensation and build the capacity to feel rather than flee
✓ Discover how cultural masks and shadow live in your body as posture, tension, and emotional holding, and the exhaustion of performing instead of feeling
✓ Find your body's authentic "yes" and "no" instead of overriding your boundaries to belong
Day 2: Compassion, Somatic Freedom & Aliveness
✓ Look at spiritual bypassing: what's waiting to be met, and reclaim the sensations and full emotional range that lies underneath.
✓ Practice nervous system regulation: explore your window of tolerance, shutdown to overwhelm, engage Jaya's L.I.F.T. Method, and co-regulate with others + nature for settling
✓ Explore fierce compassion: discover how adversity can transform into post-traumatic growth, supported by ancestral wisdom, and in connection with your humanity
✓ Weave what resonates most into a personal resilience kit you can take home and use daily
After a near-death experience while working with the UN in Cameroon, a younger Jaya spent years reaching for the light. She found her spiritual path through engaged Zen Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta non-duality, yoga, and Christian Mysticism, and all of it supported her inner knowing. Yet over time she noticed the discomfort still living in her body that mindset and spiritual practices didn’t make disappear. She wished someone had shown her then that the parts of us we try to transcend or hide are the doorway to the light rather than obstacles to it.
This workshop offers the meditator, yogi, health practitioner, or anyone curious about the potential that lives on the other side of coping patterns, how to be aware of and integrate those patterns, and embrace the aliveness that follows. Drawing on Somatic Experiencing and the embodied depth psychology of Marion Woodman (student of Carl Jung), and parts work, you'll leave understanding the unique way that you move away from overwhelm, how to meet it in your body, and cultivate steadier boundaries in yourself and with others. You'll also carry your own kit of somatic practices for everyday life. No trauma background, somatic theory, or particular beliefs required. When Jaya says "sacred," she just means connection to something larger than ourselves.
